Artificial Intelligence Development as a Strategic Priority for Kazakhstan

The second meeting of the Council for the Development of Artificial Intelligence was held under the chairmanship of the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. The session focused on key priorities for the country’s digital transformation and the implementation of advanced technologies.
In his address, the Head of State emphasized that the world is entering a new stage of technological transformation. He noted that the scale and speed of current changes far exceed those of the industrial revolutions of the 19th and 20th centuries, gradually blurring the boundaries between physical and digital environments.
Special attention was given to the role of artificial intelligence, which is becoming the foundation of the new global economy. Big data, in turn, is recognized as a critical strategic resource. In this context, Kazakhstan considers the development of AI as a top national priority.
The country’s goal is to transform into a modern digital state. The necessary institutional framework has already been established, and the next step is the large-scale integration of AI technologies across all sectors of the economy.
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev also highlighted the importance of the principle of “technological prudence,” which ensures that innovation is implemented responsibly while safeguarding national interests.
These priorities are directly linked to the education system. Preparing specialists with advanced digital skills and competencies in artificial intelligence is becoming a key objective for colleges and universities across Kazakhstan.
